In Greek literature and classical myths, the almond is the symbol of life being reborn. During the Grand Tour, Johann Heinrich Bartels described Agrigento’s Valley of the Temples with “as many almond trees as the Milky Way has stars”.
Almonds have in themselves the character of uniqueness, differing in taste and texture according to the different varieties from which they are made. In the Living Museum of the Almond in Agrigento, there is a collection that collects plants of over 200 varieties of almond trees.
