Two roads

A white coat, flasks and slides or… a pen, a notepad and a microphone in hand? I have always led two “parallel lives” looking at the food in two different manners: as an university student I tried to analyze its composition and understand how it could be then processed, while as a curious journalist I searched for something else: its history, its relationship with the land, its flavour. Love for food has always influenced my life (fortunately not my body weight!!); however, I have never been entirely clear what I wanted to be. So, I walked along two streets, even after graduation: one led me to work as a consultant of food companies, or as a professor of Food Sciences in different study courses; the other one led me to travel all around Sicily collecting interviews for a television program and working, at the same time, for a number of specialized magazines.

A crossroad

I let Life decide for me and bring out the real passion … the one which makes your eyes bright the moment you start to work. So, I realized that journalism was that passion that allowed me to spend more time with people, to listen more to their stories, to sneak in their firms to find out how things we eat are done! The white walls of labs were not for me … The two roads taken at the age of 18 finally crossed: what I had learned was not in vain, indeed it was essential to understand and be able to write with more competence.

On the road (..I hope the right one!)

And now that years have passed (I have eaten very well and consumed lots of calories travelling throughout Sicily), I decided to create something that was mine: thus Colours of Sicily was born. This is not a point of arrival, but rather the beginning of a new road which I hope will be the right one. Your suggestions and comments will be welcomed. So if you like, write me …
