Travelling with children is often not so simple: you should get organized in good time and find suitable “family-friendly” destinations. But, what can Sicily offer? Valentina D’Anna, kids travel expert and mom of a 11-month- old baby gives us some useful tips and advices to organize our family travels in the best way.
“Hosting structures equipped with facilities and services suitable for families are required”. Contrary to what one might think – says Valentina D’Anna- in Sicily there are many tour operators who coddle both parents and children, but it isn’t so easy to find them.
With kidsinsicily.it we want to help moms and dads in this research by providing a single virtual place where they will find services – such as equipment rental – and travel proposals”. Journeys by historical trains, games in adventure parks, child-friendly trekking routes, taste workshops! Lots of things can be organized with the aim of entertaining both children and adults.
“There are several child-friendly holiday proposals in Sicily, like itineraries which combine cultural attractions with interactive workshops, nature with game – continues D’Anna.
Most of these initiatives fall within the slow and relational tourism, i.e. walks along the discovery of the territory and the people who live there, pathways capable of transforming holiday into experience”. Being in the middle of winter, here is some useful advice from our expert.
“From 2017 an extensive catalogue of child-friendly travel experiences will be available on kidsinsicily.it. While waiting for these updates, our suggestions for Christmas 2016 focus on tradition: cribs always arouse the interest of children, so you can enjoy a tour to discover the most unique nativity scenes, from the living nativities to those made in bread, from papier-mâché cribs to those representing ancient crafts”.
