All the flavours of the Nebrodi mountains in a bitter liqueur made in Troina

Giuseppe Pappalardo is the owner of two small food shops – the first one was opened by his mother in 1981- placed in Troina, a small village surrounded by the majestic Nebrodi Mountains. Not only local jams, cheese, wine and cold cuts are sold here; for some years now, Giuseppe has been producing and selling a bitter liqueur according to an ancient recipe found in a manuscript written by Basilian monks who settled in Troina until the mid-1800s.

Dolcemente Amaro

Perfect to be enjoyed pure or as a cocktail, Dolcemente Amaro is prepared with wild medicinal and aromatic herbs, particularly myrtle, gathered manually in the surrounding area. Some years after receiving the recipe from a friend, about 15 years ago, Giuseppe Pappalardo decided to produce by himself a bitter digestive liqueur which today is highly appreciated by his loyal customers. Dolcemente Amaro “reserve” version is a treat for real connoisseurs; it is made with a fragrant grappa obtained by distilling the finest Nero d’Avola grape pomace.

While sipping it, you will live a unique sensorial experience thanks to its unmistakable taste, a true balance between intense and delicate notes. Dolcemente Amaro Riserva is excellent to be enjoyed cold, a perfect match with fine artisan handmade 85% dark chocolate. About a thousand bottles have been produced so far, which are available on the shelves of his shops and in some of the best bars of the island.
