Marsaxlokk is a traditional fisherman’s village, one of the most picturesque places in Malta. It is here that chef patron Salvatore Piccione opened his charming restaurant. A deep love for the sea and a great passion for cooking has made him travel a lot: from the small Sicilian village of Donnalucata he moved to Malta, then to Manchester and finally again to the Knights’ island.

A long experience, started at the age of 16, that has allowed him to acquire the skills necessary to open a successful restaurant where quality comes first and relatively little space is give to improvisation.

This colourful village preserves the most genuine soul of Malta, with its lively boats coming and going to the bay. It is considered as one of the most interesting gastronomic destinations for tourists. Here, Salvatore Piccione has realized his dream to open his own restaurant with the aim of offering his guests an authentic Mediterranean cuisine, a perfect combination of first-quality produce (which he personally imports from Sicily) with the freshest local fish.

T’Anna Mari was opened where there once was a souvenir shop; the name means “at Anna Maria’s home” in honour of his daughter Anna and his wife Maria. If you pass here on Sundays, don’t miss a visit to the local fish market, just a few steps from the restaurant: you will be captured by a great triumph of colours, a true show!

Guests are welcomed by an attentive staff. Here everyone can enjoy typical Sicilian cuisine while sipping an excellent glass of wine wisely recommended by a trained sommelier. We recommend to try the raw local red prawn served on a layer of stracciatella di bufala and black truffle pesto, as well as barbecue octopus with sauce served with oregano flavoured cow’s milk ricotta cheese.

The delicious raw and cooked appetizers are a balance of flavours enriched with a constant note of fruit to give a nice pleasantness. The different types of homemade bread recall the genuine flavours of Sicily. This place is absolutely worth a visit.
